A very fine gold lacquer tiered box and cover with an interior tray, beautifully decorated with a continuous scene of the River Hotsu-gawa in Arashiyama, north part of Kyoto, showing a waterman with a straw hat punting along the stream between the banks with pine and cherry trees. With tomobako inscribed Arashiyama HotsugawaMakie, on sho tebako (A lacquer box with Hotsugawa in Arashiyama)
