Kodaiji makie is a type of lacquer that originated for the decoration of the Kodaiji Temple’s mausoleum in Higashiyama in Kyoto, commonly decorated with designs of flowering autumn grasses in simple makie techniques such as hiramakie, harigaki and e-nashiji, over which are scattered chrysanthemum and paulownia crests in gold.
