Inlaid bronze koro (incense burner) with lake view by jomi eisuke

An inlaid bronze koro with three out-swept legs, decorated in shakudo, silver, gold and copper with a view of Mt. Fuji over a lake. The silver cover pierced with cranes in flight. With a wood stand and tomobako.

Jomi Eisuke (1839-around1902) was born to a doctor’s family in Kyoto. He was adopted by the metalworker Kanaya Gorosaburo VIII at the age of eight and became independent in 1867. He used the artist name Yamamoto Bunjiro and then changed to Jomi of Shojo-do. He exhibited at both national and international exhibitions winning many prizes.
