Meiji metalwork was produced by the highly skilled sword-fittings makers after the Meiji government’s sword Abolishment Edict in 1876. Those fine works of art were introduced to Western collectors particularly through the major international exhibitions. Not only by Imperial Court Artists such as Kano Natsuo, Unno Shōmin, Kagawa Katsuhiro but there were also other talented masters such as Shoami Katsuyoshi and Unno Moritoshi.
