Large Satsuma plate with arhats and travellers

Kinzandō

A fine and large circular Satsuma plate depicting four panels on a ground of Japanese traditional geometric patterns, the upper part decorated with arahats, the supreme enlightened sages in Buddhism from China and Japanese travellers happily gathering in front of a tea house by a lake reserved within overlapping frames of a roundel and a scroll, the lower left side with a folding fan depicting birds and flowers by a stream, and the right side with a roundel depicting travellers in the snow covered landscapes.
